Thai Airways 773 SIN-BKK / Singapore to Bangkok in Business Class
I didn’t expect much based on the pre-flight information: a dated 777-300 with old business class seats and a 2-2-2 configuration in the business cabin - well, reality turned out to be better than expected ;)
1. Ground Experience: Smooth
Boarding commenced approx. 30 minutes before departure time. Boarding was done via a jet-bridge. Priority boarding for First/Business Class passengers. Nothing to write home about. / OK / Solid.
2. Cabin and Crew: Professional
I was greeted by flight attendants overseeing business class and led to my seat.
(Some) Thai Airways 777-300 series aircraft feature a 2-2-2 configuration, meaning that in order to get to the aisle area in case you’re seated by the window, you need to “step over” your neighbor - if you have any. In my case, there wasn’t anybody - two seats all by myself ;).
3. Service: All smiles :)
Pre-departure drinks were served once I took place. Qatar Airways’ signature drink, various sorts of juices were offered. In addition (and this is limited to Middle East flights only), Arabic coffee and dates were offered.
While serving the drinks, the crew took meal orders: Today’s choice was Arabic Mezze or a Western option. I went for the former.
Approx. 15-20 minutes after take off, meal service commenced: Food quality and presentation was great.
4. Conclusion: not bad (4 / 5)
I quite liked it. Catering was great, cabin crew was warm and welcoming, and load factor was low (good for me, but probably less so for Thai airways on that day). I wouldn’t go out of my way to fly the old config 773, but overall, Thai airways has definitely become a an airline I wanna fly again in the near future.
